for Scouters
Administration:
Scout House is home of the Scout shop. Greater Victoria Area shares an Executive Director with the rest of Cascadia Council. Alamin Pirani can be contacted through the BC/Yukon Operations Centre [888-726-8876] or by e-mail. The Field Executive, Melissa Braun, can be contacted by e-mail.
Scout Shop:
The Scout Shop stocks uniforms, badges, equipment, resource books and other things that both youth and adult members may need. Much like that corner in the old general store with the chairs around the wood stove, this is the place where stories are swapped, ideas exchanged, and Scouter-to-Scouter assistance often begins in earnest.
Training:
Scout Canada's competency-based approach provides both general and section-specific training for leaders and group committee members. Learn more from the Training page.
Scouts Canada Outdoor Activities:
Scouts Canada's Outdoor Activities are guided by our Bylaws, Policies and Procedures. BP&P provides important information about the planning and administrative aspects of outdoor activities. The most current version is available on-line from our national site.
These policies are provided as a set or as separate documents. To ensure the most current version is being used, group and regional sites should link to the national site rather than post their own copies.
Recognition for Leaders:
Recognition pages are still in the process of being updated to bring you the most relevant information regarding both the formal and informal means of providing recognition for Scouters.
The links below connect to the appropriate forms located on the national Scouts Canada site. It is our hope to eventually provide a form that can be completed on-screen.
Future updates will include information on recognition available for Scouters. The formal program is described in Bylaws, Policies and Procedures. We will try to enhance the information contained their and provide additional information on informal recognition.
If you are trying to draft an award application for a deserving Scouter and are stuck when trying to decide what to say, here are 20 Questions to ask yourself that may help to get you going.
You can find all of the appropriate forms for recognition on the Recognition Page of the Scouts Canada website.
