Chief Scouts Award
The following is an incomplete listing of Greater Victoria Area Scouts who have achieved the highest award possible in the Scout program. If your name is not on the list and should be, please send an e-mail to the WebScouter to make the correction.
Governor-General Roland Michener, who was then Chief Scout of Canada, created the Chief Scout's Award in September 1973. The Award is provided by the Chief Scout of Canada, the Governor General of Canada, and is the highest badge a Scout can earn. Recipients are recognized around the country as being leaders in their own Troop and community. Scouts spend several years obtaining the skills necessary, and developing their abilities in order to earn this award. The Scouts must also give service to their community as part of working towards obtaining the award.
The British Columbia Ministry of Education has approved Scouts Canada's Chief Scout's Award as an External Course for which the Ministry recognizes certificates. Scouts in B.C. receive four Grade 11 credits towards High School graduation by successfully completing the Chief Scout's Award requirements and presenting proof to their school.
