Kub Kar Rally 2012
IT IS RACING TIME AGAIN!!
- WHEN: Saturday February 18th, 2012
- TRACK SETUP: 9:30 am
- REGISTRATION: 10:00 am
- RACING: 11:00 – 1:30 pm
- WHERE: Naden Drill Shed. This is located in Esquimalt just north of Esquimalt Rd off of Admirals Rd at CFB Naden, Once through the gates at Naden there will be signs to direct you to the building.
- COST: $10.00 per cub $5.00 per adult. Payment can be made on race day.
- REGISTRATION DEADLINE: The Registration form (see below) must be sent via email to the Race Coordinator by February 12th.
- Late registrations are not accepted.
Please make cheques payable to: Scouts Canada – Greater Victoria Area. Please note on the cheque that it is for Kub Kar Rally and your group’s name.
Racers (and any adult registered) will get tickets for a Hot Dog, treat and a Drink, plus they will get a Kub Kar crest after the event. Parents and Leaders do not have to register, but they will not receive a crest and will have to buy their own food at the concession stand.
Each Cub Scout will be guaranteed 20 races on 10 different tracks.
The rules are as follows:
All Kars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:
- Must be a Kar that has never been raced at an Area event before.
- Overall width, including wheels, shall not exceed 7 cm (2¾ inches)
- Length shall not exceed 17.8 cm (7 inches)
- Weight shall not exceed 142 g (5 ounces)
- The minimum distance between the wheels is 4.5 cm (1¾ inches)
- Clearance between the chassis and the track should be 0.95 cm (3/8ths of an inch)
- Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit
- Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are not permitted
- Wheel Shaving is also not permitted
- No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may, however, be lubricated with powdered graphite lightly by a parent/leader
- The Kar shall not ride on any kind of spring
- The Kar must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices
- No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the Kar
- Once the Kar has been registered and weighed, no modifications will be allowed except to fix Kars that need repairs
Other rules:
- Please wear your uniform
- No running in the Track zone
- No crossing over Tracks
- Respect the adults starting and judging the races
- HAVE FUN!!!
Race cards will be distributed in a race package handed out at the registration table. Please have one leader from your Pack pick up the race packages (leaders only). Do not bring your own race cards to the rally. String will already be affixed to the race cards by the race coordinators.
TRACKS: We need tracks! If you can bring a track, please call or email the Race coordinator so we know where we stand with numbers. Set-up will be in the gym at 9:30am on the morning of the races. If you supply a track, please also supply 4 adults. One for starting and three for judging wins.
KUB KAR Finals will be on Saturday April 14th 2012, starting at 11 am. The finals will be held at Scout House, 505 Marigold Ave.
