CAMP BARNARD NEWS-SUMMER 2012

Please take a moment to get informed about the many opportunities that await us at Camp Barnard over the next few months:

BARNARD BIKEATHON

There's still time to join in on this fun event for all sections. Pledge envelopes can be picked up at the Scout Shop or by emailing bikeathon@victoriascouts.ca.

• What: Cycling the ¼-mile track at Esquimalt High. Target distances: 12 laps for Beavers, 40 for Cubs, 80 for Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and leaders OR travel as a group and log kms on the Galloping Goose and/or Lochside Trails.
• When: Saturday, June 9th, 10 am to 2 pm, Esquimalt High School, 847 Colville Road.
• Why: To raise funds for Scout programs and Camp Barnard. Funds raised will be split 50-50 between groups and Camp Barnard.

BOTTLE DEPOT DROP-OFF - JUNE 1-30

For the month of June, Camp Barnard is BOTTLE DEPOT's designated charity. This means that refunds from all containers that are put in their charity bins will be given to Camp Barnard. This could be a huge bonus for our camp! Please consider spreading the word to parents and friends. The bottle depot locations are 4261 Glanford, 655 Queens, 3961 Quadra. The bins are marked CHARITY BIN and are available for drop-off 24/7, no sorting required.

SUMMER ADVENTURE CAMPS, AUG. 6-10 and AUG. 12-17

As last year, Ann Armstrong and her great crew will be here for 2 weeks in August to provide wonderful camping experiences for all who sign up. All of the details regarding registration are available at www.adventurecamps.ca or you can call Kay at 250 384 3494 and she will send you the registration forms.

There are some volunteer opportunities both weeks as well-if you can help in the kitchen, waterfront or could provide an evening program please email campcommittee@victoriascouts.ca

APPLE DAY 2012- SEPTEMBER 29

Mark your calendars now. Apple Day helps your group and is a critical fundraiser for our camp. Your camp fees alone cannot cover the costs of operating Camp Barnard; Apple Day is a way to participate in keeping fees as low as possible while still maintaining and developing a great camp.
